I didn’t get any pictures of the banana pepper plants that turned out good, but here’s what we picked tonight:

So yesterday we went to Locust Grove as they were hosting a free open house to the public. They were celebrating the completion of the re-restored House and had guides and costumed interpreters on hand.

Locust Grove is the 1790s home of William and Lucy Croghan. Lucy was the sister of George Rogers Clark. They had a wonderful walk through exhibition that also looked new. We watched a short film about the house before leaving the visitors’ center.

Here is the back of the house. I LOVE the porch. I have always wanted one of these.

They had a bluegrass type band (I think: banjo, bass, fiddle, and guitar). Benjamin took a short video with his phone.

Musicians at Locust Grove

I love the style and Georgian architecture of the house. I absolutely love the door.

I only took 1 picture inside the house. I never know if you’re allowed to. But I loved the furniture and bedding, so I couldn’t resist. Plus there wasn’t any wallpaper or art in this room that could be distorted. I have always loved canopy beds. I had one when I was little. I love the fabric too!

The wallpapered rooms in the 1st and 2nd floors were so colorful- hand painted and blocked.

Another picture of the porch!

Here is the “front of the house”. It is the opposite side of the house that you see from the rest of the estate. It is the formal entrance.

They also had some other smaller buildings. I think it was the kitchen, smoke house, ice house, cheese house, and some other buildings across the gardens.

We had a great time. The reason we even ended up there was because a co-worker is getting married next year and we were looking for places to have her wedding and we saw they were open for free on Saturday. I’ll have to see on Monday if Holly made it there or not. It would be a pretty place for a wedding, just hope that the weather is nice- not too hot, but not rainy. There’s no way I would have an outdoor wedding here in Kentucky, the weather is soooo unpredictable!

They are also open for FREE to the public on Independence Day Sunday, July 4, 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Visit their website: http://www.locustgrove.org/

Whew, where do I even start? It’s been a while since the last update. I’m really trying to do better- but school is about to make me crazy right now.

Here’s how my weekend was a few weeks ago, I called it a study date:

And on a Monday night- the picture that I meant to post with the last posting:

I did another 5K on Saturday, Run for the L of It:

I had not run (or is it ran) at ALL in the last week and it had been 2 or 3 weeks since running 3 miles or more, so I wasn’t expecting to do well at all- plus it was around 70 degrees and humid- and I don’t do well in the HEAT! I was hot afterwards, but was pleased with 31:45- a think it was my 3rd best 5K time out of 9 5Ks total- although this was flat.

Running for the L of It

I also went to my cousin’s bridal shower and visited my in-laws on Saturday- after doing …. guess?? More homework! Gotta love B516.

On Sunday, I got Benjamin to take me to Best Buy (I didn’t have to ask nicely at all) to look at cameras. Then to JoAnn’s Fabric and Crafts, then to Home Depot for some flowers, garden soil, and tomato cages. We did some bush trimming in the evening, right before it poured, but I didn’t get all my planting done.

Today, I spent the morning working on my Ethical Analysis paper (sounds fancy, huh?). I took a break and finished planting the flowers and finally planted the 2 tomato plants and the 2 pepper plants we bought like 2 weeks ago! I also saw a pepper on each of the pepper plants!

I had to start on my project for my class that is due the last day of class and I bet I spent 3 hours researching and hardly got anywhere!

It’s time to head to my mom’s for dinner!

I took lots of pictures of the race, bridal shower, and planting, so I’ll post them later!

I planted my Zinnia seedlings last weekend. I bought the starter tray last year and planted a few things- but they didn’t make it. I think I over-watered them. I kept this plastic tray all year in hopes of trying it again this spring. I went to Meijers to look for the little dirt pods and found some! And they were on sale! Yay!

The dirt pods are fun to start. Just lay them in the tray- these didn’t exactly fit my tray, but it seemed to work just fine.

And then put water on them. It didn’t exactly say how much, I just kept pouring until they stopped expanding.

My cat wanted to see what was going on

After they stopped expanding, I can opened the tops of the pods wider.

I then grabbed 2 to 6 seeds to put in each pod. Then tried to cover them over with the dirt- a little tricky. Here is the seed packet. Not sure what color they’ll end up!

I then put the top back on and put it on the table near a window. I know that this window doesn’t get much light, but it’s about the only option I have. I’ll leave the light on that’s above the table. Hopefully that will help!

I’ll continue to take pictures and report on the progress!
