I’m taking an Entrepreneurship class this summer. It’s very interesting, especially with seeing and hearing the experiences at Backupify. It’s nothing like the OTHER summer class I took this year.
We had to come up with an idea for a product/service for our last lecture and pitch it to the rest of our team. Each team was to do an opportunity assessment for the final project in the class based on SOMEONE’S idea from the group. I had a hard time coming up with an idea and I even got Benjamin and his mom involved. Our professor always said to start with finding a problem and then come up with a solution to the problem. Don’t just make up a product- you should find a problem and fix it.
My problem was that I get email surveys during the day. I can’t answer them on my phone, so I have to wait until I get home to answer them. Sometimes (especially the good ones) they are already full. If the companies sent a survey made for a mobile device, I would be able to take them throughout the day. That was the idea I pitched to my team. I wasn’t gung-ho on it because I found a company that makes the product- but still, none of my survey companies use them. Other ideas were safety goggles with integrated ear plugs, home wine making kit, online ticket auction for event facilities, and medical facilities consulting. We went with the safety goggles, but I wonder if anyone changes their mind and brings it up in class tomorrow.
Just tonight, I found some links I wanted to share. But this whole class got me to thinking and changed my perspective a little. Always be on the lookout for problems and stuff that should be improved.
