Rowenta Iron: Fabric Time

I ironed a ton of fabric this weekend, especially this afternoon. 3 yards of baby blanket fabric, plus 7 yards of Christmas fabric. I used to completely hate ironing, but after using the Rowenta iron, I don’t mind it. That thing actually works! I got it as a wedding present 7 years ago, but I only have used it for about the last 2 years. It was so nice that I didn’t want to use it, but then thought- heck, why not? I used to save and hold unto things, but have recently realized that it’s not necessary to do. Go ahead and use it!

Ironing Fabric

But I find ironing fabric kind of relaxing. The fabric is a wrinkled mess when I begin. I can easily see progress as I go along and I am satisfied when I am done. Why on earth would I not like that?!? I don’t like to iron clothes as much as fabric, but I have found myself ironing t-shirts lately that I wouldn’t have normally ironed- just so that I can use my Rowenta. I also moved the ironing board and iron from the basement dungeon to the extra bedroom upstairs- which is so much easier and quicker to get to- so I guess that’s another reason why I iron more now. And also, it’s a good time to think and reflect. I’ve got a lot of things going on right now, so it was good to just have some quick time to think about what’s going on and what’s important to me and my family.

Back to my ironing- you’ll see a Christmas fabric. It’s a sneak peak at some upcoming sewing projects for the KY State Fair. The plan is to make an apron out of that fabric, and maybe a pillow.
